The purpose of this committee is to promote the conduct of nursing diagnosis research and the acceptance and use of Standardized Nursing Languages (SNLs) in the profession. 

The Committee goals are:

 > Site Map

 

1.

To provide consultation and direction for nursing diagnosis research by:

 

 

a.

maintaining a Research Committee membership with nursing diagnosis research expertise and a commitment to provide appropriate consultation as requested.

 

 

b.

developing formal articulation mechanisms with specialty and other nursing groups regarding nursing diagnosis research.

 

 

c.

supporting the development of standardized research methods for use in multiple sites.

 

2.

To provide direction in the definition and refinement of nursing diagnosis research by:

 

 

a.

initiating the development of a research agenda for NANDA.

 

 

b.

consulting with the ad hoc Program Committee regarding the research content and foci of the biennial conferences.

 

 

c.

articulating with the NANDA Foundation in matters of nursing diagnosis research.

 

 

d.

consulting with the Diagnosis Review and Taxonomy Committees regarding  priorities in nursing diagnosis research.

 

 

e.

coordinating the abstract review processes for the biennial conferences.

 

 

f.

consulting with the Nursing Diagnosis Extension and Classification team.

 

3.

To communicate the theoretical and philosophical rationale for the use of Standardized Nursing Languages (SNLs) in the profession by:

 

 

a.

supporting the inclusion of issues related to the implementation of SNLs at biennial conferences.

 

 

b.

promoting dialogue on the use of SNLs in relationships with specialty nursing groups.

 

 

 

 

The RC is currently developing a standardized research method for local health care agencies worldwide to establish consensus validation of relevant diagnoses, interventions and outcomes for specific populations.
