We at NANDA International are sad to announce the passing of Dr. Joan B. Fitzmaurice. Dr. Fitzmaurice was a long time member and supporter of NANDA International.  When the NANDA-I Journal was founded in 1990, Dr. Fitzmaurice was a member of the inaugural editorial advisory board. With interests in health services and clinical decision making, she contributed to many NANDA-I conferences over the years. During her professional career, Dr. Fitzmaurice served in a number of capacities; she was a staff nurse, clinical specialist, senior administrator, policy leader, and associate professor at West Roxbury Veterans Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston College. Her contributions to the nursing profession are numerous, and she will be greatly missed by her colleagues far and wide.
