Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues:

Join us in Madrid, Spain for the NANDA-I / AENTDE International Congress Towards a Global Future for Nursing: Developing Language, Sharing Knowledge, May 12-14, 2010!

This is the first time a NANDA-I biennial conference will be held outside the United States, presenting an exceptional opportunity to network with nursing colleagues from around the world. We are honored to co-sponsor this event with
Asociación Española de Nomenclatura, Taxonomía y Diagnósticos de Enfermería (AENTDE).

Our congress theme, Towards a Global Future for Nursing, considers the following worldwide trends and opportunities:

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a worldwide initiative which significantly impacts
professional nursing. EHR adoption in the US is targeted for 2014, with nursing integrally
involved in implementation. EHR adoption is well underway in England and Europe; benefit
from our international nursing colleagues' experiences with standardized nursing language
and EHR integration.  At the 2010 Madrid Congress, share expertise and chart the
direction of worldwide standardized nursing language.

There is a global nursing workforce crisis, with profound implications for developed and
developing nations. The International Council of Nurses identifies causes and recommends
priority areas for interventions.*  At the 2010 Madrid Congress, explore the global perspective
of professional nursing; add your voice to the future of nursing education, credentialing and standardized nursing language.
Worldwide threats such as influenza pandemic, and trends such as global population aging,
place dramatic demands on nursing - especially considering nurses provide the majority of
health services in almost every country.*  At the 2010 Madrid Conference, lend your vision to
the impact of these emerging patient care trends on standardized nursing language -
and the global future of our profession.

Networking and Celebration
Don't miss the NANDA-I Dinner / Auction, Awards Luncheon and Gala Dinner events - meet new colleagues and recognize significant contribution to the work of standardized nursing language.

Enjoy Madrid!
Visit the museums, enjoy leisure activities, shop or take a walk in the “Madrid of the Austrias” or relax in the “Retiro Park."  Read more about all that Madrid offers.

Together with our international nursing colleagues, we will influence and shape global nursing language development, and guide advances in nursing practice, education and research. Please join us in this exciting challenge!

See you in Madrid!
